MIKAYLA SANTIAGO

Co-President of Internal Affairs

During the summers before my first year at Cal Poly I decided to join board as there was a slight lack of board members as a result of Covid. I may not have fully realized it back then, but our board is the backbone of BSU and it’s hard to function if we are not complete. Since joining board and just being a member of BSU, I have truly been able to find a source of happiness and a bond that genuinely reminds me of a family at Cal Poly. College is hard especially in a place that lacks diversity compared to where I grew up. Beyond forming these bonds and friendships, I have been given so many opportunities that focus on students that are affected by marginalization. Being on board allows you first access to many opportunities & gives you the ability to spread information and access to other students and community members who may need support. I am extremely grateful to have my position and I can not wait to see what BSU is able to accomplish in the upcoming future.
Being in nature (hiking & exploring new places), drawing, reading, watching anime & romcoms, being active (physically & socially)
